Due to the extreme light and darkness, this photo suffered from shadow clipping. This was corrected by increasing the shadow highlights. Increasing +50 was required to move the bars on the histogram off the extreme left margin but had minimal visual effect on the photo. Further increasing it +75 made some of the structure of the statue visible.
For this photo, the editing was color correction by changing the white balance using the eye dropper control. The "Neutral point" selected as the white fleck at the top right of the photo. This adjustment made the flower less overwhelming and allowed the other colors to shine through.
For this photo, two corrections were needed. The first correction was to level the photo using the Angle control. The reference line used was the soffit of the building. The second correction was color correction. The white balance was adjusted using the eye-dropper control with a reference point of the soffit as well. These changes improved the image by bringing out depth of color in the brick and teapot while eliminating the distraction of the unleveled horizontal lines.
